Unusual Modernist ‘Spider’ Lamp

A very unusual piece. While there aren’t enough legs the thing that comes to mind is a spider. The thin wire frame supports the large fiberglass dome. Each leg comes up to a different height, 15″, 18″ and 29″, then bends back downward. The feet each sit 44″ apart, so this thing has a very large footprint. The double socket provides a nice soft light through the fiberglass while most of the light is directed downward. We have not been able to come up with any information on this piece despite our best efforts, but the consensus seems to be that it is most likely a California modernist piece form the 1950’s.
